In order to preserve Boorowa’s water supply amid ongoing dry weather conditions, Hilltops Council has implemented Level 2 water restrictions to help manage current and future demand.

“We’ve been keeping a very close eye on the weir level which has continued to drop given the lack of rainfall in the region of late,” General Manager Anthony McMahon said.

“So in order to manage ongoing water requirements, it’s necessary to now move from Level 1 to Level 2 water restrictions in Boorowa.

“Level 2 water usage restrictions are along the same lines as Level 1; the key difference is the hours during which water usage is permitted for things such as watering the garden, washing the car and topping up swimming pools.

“For example, residents are still able to water their lawns and gardens, but we ask this be done between 6am and 9am or 6pm and 9pm. We also ask that it be done on an odds and evens system, so if your house number is an even number, you’re permitted to water your garden on even numbered calendar days, and the same goes for odd-numbered street addresses,” he said.

Mr McMahon said further information, as well as tips for saving water, is available on Council’s website.

“Residents right across the Hilltops Region should certainly be mindful of their water usage – regardless of whether restrictions are in place – and I encourage everyone to do all they can to be water wise during these drier times,” Mr McMahon said.
