Preparations for Australia Day celebrations in the Hilltops Region are underway, with three ambassadors set to visit the area to help residents and visitors mark the annual event.

Author, television and radio broadcaster Susie Elelman has been announced as the Australia Day Ambassador for Boorowa, commentator Mark Warren will be on hand in Harden, while actress and journalist Zoe Naylor will be in Young.

The National Australia Day Council recruits over 300 Australia Day Ambassadors who volunteer their time to attend Australia Day ceremonies across the country to help inspire pride and enhance celebrations in local communities.

Statistics provided by the National Australia Day Council reveal 13 million participate in specific Australia Day celebrations every year. Further statistics reveal four in five Australians see Australia Day as being more meaningful than just a day off, with 75 per cent of Australians believing the day should be a time to recognise and celebrate the country’s cultural diversity.

Event information for Australia Day celebrations across the Hilltops Region – including Australia Day Award ceremonies – will be listed on Hilltops Council’s website and social media pages shortly.

Susie Elelman (Boorowa): 2018 will be the 20th year Susie has been chosen as an Australia Day Ambassador.  Author, TV presenter, radio broadcaster, reporter and producer are just some of the many hats she has worn throughout a media career spanning four decades.  Her resume includes Sydney radio station 2GB, Channel Seven’s ‘The Morning Show’ and Win’s ‘Studio 10’.

Mark Warren (Harden): The son of Ray ‘Rabbits’ Warren, Mark heads up ‘Warren Media’, a multi-skilled media agency working across campaign placement, production, creative, talent and strategy through to delivery. He is a dynamic broadcaster, MC and auctioneer. Charity work is a priority for Mark, who began his work as an Australia Day Ambassador in 2015.

Zoe Naylor (Young): Perhaps best known as an actress, Zoe is also a journalist, MC, keynote speaker, writer, voice-artist and producer.  Zoe has appeared on television screens as part of programs including ‘Home and Away’, ‘McLeod’s Daughters’ and ‘Gladiators’. Zoe has also appeared in a number of films, such as ‘The Reef’ and ‘Robotropolis’.
