Hilltops Freight and Transport Study

Hilltops Council is seeking comments on the recently completed Hilltops Freight and Transport Study.  Council resolved at their Ordinary Meeting on Wednesday 22 May 2019  to put this Study on public exhibition for a period of 42 days, from 6 June 2019 to 18 July 2019. 

Why we are asking for feedback

Council is seeking feedback from the community to further inform freight and transport infrastructure across the Hilltops Council area.  The study provides the information, analysis and a direction to have an informed discussion on freight, transport and infrastructure in the Hilltops LGA with key stakeholders, industries, the community and land owners. 
 
The Hilltops Freight and Transport Study will be used in conjunction with the Hilltops Community Strategic Plan and other Strategic documents and data to inform the upcoming Hilltops Local Strategic Planning Statement (LSPS) and Local Environmental Plan (LEP). Council will be seeking community input in to both these documents over 2019 and 2020. The outline of the process and further opportunities to participate are shown, for your reference, in the attached diagram.

A bit about the Hilltops Freight and Transport Study

The Hilltops Freight and Transport Study focusses on the ambition to have a freight and transport network that can support growth in Hilltops.  It has identified gaps in the connections in this network that Council may focus its energy in the future.
 
This study also identifies that Council has different roles and responsibilities within this network.  In some parts Council owns and manages the freight and transport infrastructure (such as some roads), in other parts of the network, Council has a role to lobby state and federal governments to sustain and upgrade the infrastructure (for example rail and highways). The Study proposes a series of short, medium and long term actions whilst assisting the development and preparation of a 20 year planning vision in the Hilltops Strategic Planning Statement and Local Environmental Plan for the Hilltops Council area. The Study will help Council in land use and infrastructure planning now and into the future.

Submissions are to be received in writing to Locked Bag 5 YOUNG NSW  2594 or via email to submissions@hilltops.nsw.gov.au with ‘Hilltops Freight and Transport Study’ in the subject line. Submissions must be received by 18 July 2019.

When making a submission you should be aware that details of the submission can be made publically available as allowed by the Government Information (Public Access) Act 2009
